Amazon online store net sales up 24% in the first quarter


Recently, Amazon officially announced the first quarter of 2020. According to the financial report, Amazon's net profit in the first quarter was $2.535 billion, down 29% from $3.561 billion in the same period of last year; net sales was $75.452 billion, up 26% from $59.700 billion in the same period last year.


Net sales in its online stores rose 24% in the first quarter from a year earlier, the fastest growth in four years. Although the first quarter was partly affected by the outbreak, it still more than tripled compared with the first quarter of 2019.


Downturn crisis? Third party sellers' share of sales dropped to 52%


According to the financial report, net sales from third-party seller services were $14.479 billion, up 30% from $11.141 billion in the same period last year. Excluding the impact of exchange rate changes, the net sales increased by 31% year-on-year.


Third party sellers' share of sales fell to 52%, down from any quarter in 2019.
